Steeger can't play center. We saw that last night as he was moved off the pivot minutes into the game and replaced by Ebbett.
The lines for when Hossa comes back should go as follows.
Sharp-Ebbett(replacing Bolley)-Kane
Steeger-Toews-Hossa
Ladd-Madden-Buff
Kopecky-Fraser-Eager
It gives you balance and allows Ladd to play on the 3rd line where he excelled last season. Madden is the perfect 3rd line center and Buff can be whatever cause he doesn't bring it every night. The problem with this team is all to often they try and play people out of position. More times then not its a mistake. So keep Sharp, Steeger, Hossa and all those dudes on the wing. That's where they are at their best. I am not saying this is the perfect situation for Ebbett to be centering our line 1A but its the only real option we have. I believe if he's playing with Kaner and Sharpie his numbers will come. They did last year when he played a bunch with Teemu Selanne.
Second is Ladd put up career numbers with Havlat making him look good He won't have that opportunity this year, and has gone back to looking very ordinary in the offensive zone...as he has his entire career. playing with Hossa is much different than Havlat, as Hossa is a pure shooter, who doesn't carry or distribute the puck like Havlat did.
Well that's why I got Ladd with Madden and Buff. Steeger a gifted passer with Toews and Hossa. As far as Ebbett. I know man, we disagree. I think he's a capable player and you don't. That said, I don't want him on the first line but that's what we have in house. This is what is here in house and I doubt its going to get THAT much better by making a move which most likely would be subtracting something more important in the long run.
