This is all still pretty sketchy news at this time, but completely unbelievable that something like this can happen.

I dont know. A trained soldier with access to some really potent weapons? I can see how it could happen.

I'm glad I'm in Fort Bliss, TX this week and not Fort Hood. Miller, soldiers don't have ready access to potent weapons. But this guy, a Major and
apparently a muslim who allegedly was vocal against his coming deployment to a theater of operations (don't know if it was Iraq or Afghanistan) appeared to
have used personally owned civilian handguns. As soon as I heard the rank I figured it would be a muslim against going to battle against his muslim brothers.
At this point that's what it looks like. At least he's dead so we don't have to have him get the death penalty only to sit on death row for the
rest of his natural life at the USDB Leavenworth. The muslim former Sergeant that killed a couple of officers in Kuwait just before the beginning of the Iraq
war should be dead but he's still on death row.

while I was in military school in Lake Geneva, we had access to our armory , they had m-16's and m-203's & the ammunition was accessible as well
..45 cal handguns &. both regular & switched over to only shoot .22 long. we had no incidents, we could have, our biggest thing was buying beer from
the seniors & sending down a bedsheet to bring the case of beer to our rooms on saturday nights. raiding the messhall at 2 am, sneaking from the tac
officer & not gertting caught. we were the masters of stealth, good times. was it a muslim who flipped ourt at camp hood......?? wouldnt surprise me the
least.

So last night they said it was a false report and that he is not dead but alive. The thing is though, he was going over to Iraq, but not for combat, but to be
a phyc doctor. So it's not like he was going to be in an exact line of fire. But that's not really the point though. I know he was just totally against
the whole war to begin with.
I say no death penalty for this guy. When he is better and ok to leave the hospital, they should do the one thing that he despises the most, send him to Iraq! Let him sit in a jail cell in Iraq till he dies! |

On top of all this, all the taxpayers paid for this freaks education.

sabretooth wrote: Seriously sabre, do you believe that? Or are you saying that since I'm a taxpayer and I'm paying for both of my daughter's college that the taxpayer's are paying for it? This guy went to Medical School, on the Army's dime that's what chiguy was saying and that is a lot different than anything you are trying to say. I don't know when artik was in military school but in my 24 years in the Army, no one had unfettered or easy access to any arms room and unless you had a range scheduled the naxt day, you couldn't store ammo outside of a well guarded ammo supply point that required paperwork submitted in advance through channels before you could draw ammo from it. HawkPilot10 wrote:What separates the army's dime from the taxpayer's dime? EDIT: Oh - wait a minute - now I understand what you're asking me. Most people pay their own way in secondary institutions, true. But state universities are subsidized by in-state residents, and tuitions waivers, and federal loans/scholarships are paid by the government - which comes from taxpayers. In that sense, every taxpayer is paying for the education of whoever happens to be in a university. This guy wasn't paid for with the taxpayer's dollar any more than tons of other people.

Back on topic:
From what WBBM has reported (thru CBS) is that the person owned the weapon he used to kill the soldiers. I have no link to this information, so look it up yourself. The question I have is was there signs that this individual had the capabilities to pull this off?

Latest info was all kinds of signs. Itll all come out soon if it hasnt already. Its ok for the far left to bash the Catholic church but when it comes to
radical Islam, noooooo way. F them and the left horse they rode in on. Thats probably 90% of the mainstream media.

Jello, the weapon he used had a laser sight on it so it was definitely his own or he borrowed it from someone. I talked to a friend of mine who has information
from the investigation and he said it was the guys own gun.
Sabre, that's a bit of a stretch. Yes all the land grant and state schools receive state and federal tax dollars (most private schools don't), but if that was paying for the education, then why are you paying tuition right now? Those tax dollars pay for the buildings, stadiums, infrastructure but not the education IMHO. My heart is black and my lips are cold

HawkPilot10 wrote:But I'm NOT paying tuition right now! Being a university employee has its perks. With tuition rates as high as they've gotten nowadays, I'll believe your $15,000 in tuition covers your own education, but a decade ago, tuitions were small enough where the taxpayers were in the hock for some of that. Heck, whether or not taxpayers are paying for the education itself or not, they're still providing college students with all of these great facilities and buildings that they never use. Returning to the original point, I still don't see why the taxpayers ought to be particularly pissed that they paid a buck fifty each to put this guy through psychiatric school. If that's the worst grievance you have against your government, consider yourself a happy citizen.

The deal IS the Army knew he was a nut case and did NOTHING. Why? For fear of political repercussion from the LIBERAL left.
So basically were paying not only his education but also SALARY in the Military. HELLO. School, once youre done, most are off the taxpayers dime. |

Hindsight is always 20/20 eh. Bullshit. Gutless liberal chichkenshit failed policies are always 20/20. Oh wait, hes a radical Muslim. Rather go investigate
veterans.
6 Red Flags in Fort Hood Case (Nov. 12) -- Hindsight is always 20/20, especially as investigators and reporters try to connect the dots following a tragedy as stunning as the Fort Hood massacre. In the week since the attack that left 13 dead, these possible warning signs about Maj. Nidal Hasan, the Army psychiatrist charged with killing his fellow solders, have come to light. 1. Colleagues and patients complained about his religious proselytizing Hasan, who was about to be sent to Afghanistan, frequently claimed that the U.S. was waging war on Islam and argued that Muslims should not be sent to kill fellow Muslims. "He was very vocal about the war, very upfront about being a Muslim first and an American second," Dr .Val Finnell, a classmate at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in 2007, told Bloomberg. Finnell said in a Los Angeles Times interview that he complained to officials about Hasan's "anti-American rants" and "really questioned his loyalty." Hasan's supervisors received so many complaints about his preaching to patients that he was reprimanded, the newspaper said. Get details from The Los Angeles Times and Bloomberg 2. Fellow psychiatrists wondered about Hasan's mental health Hasan's behavior during the six years he worked at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., became so disturbing that hospital officials began discussing in the spring of 2008 whether he was psychotic, according to NPR. One official reportedly wondered aloud to colleagues whether Hasan might be capable of killing fellow soldiers. Get details from NPR 3. Hasan had been on terrorism watchdogs' radar Two joint terrorism task forces reportedly began monitoring Hasan in December because he sent e-mails as many as 20 times to a radical Islamic cleric in Yemen. The imam, Anwar al-Awlaki, has a large following among jihadists online. The Washington Post said a Pentagon analyst concluded the e-mails were in keeping with Hasan's research and did not pose a threat. Get details from The Washington Post 4. He attended the same mosque as two 9/11 hijackers Anwar al-Awlaki was a prayer leader at Dar al Hijrah Islamic Center in Falls Church, Va., in early 2001. Investigators said Sept. 11 hijackers Hani Hanjour and Nawaf al-Hamzi attended the mosque about the same time, as did Hasan. However, it is one of the largest mosques in the United States, and senior federal law enforcement official said there was no immediate evidence of a link to terrorism, the Los Angeles Times reported. Get details from The Los Angeles Times and New York Daily News 5. He allegedly expressed sympathy for terrorists online Six months ago, investigators found messages posted on the Internet under Hasan's name that expressed sympathy for suicide bombers, a federal official told The Washington Post. They didn't pursue the matter because they couldn't confirm the Army psychiatrist was the one who wrote the postings. Get details from The Washington Post 6. Hasan might have financial ties to Pakistan A Republican congressman has revealed there could be a money trail that leads to terrorists, the Dallas Morning News reported Thursday. Investigators are looking into whether Hasan wired money to Pakistan in recent months, said Michigan Republican Pete Hoekstra. If true, Hoekstra said, that could be evidence of a connection between Hasan and militant Islamic groups.
