The Rockford IceHogs, an AHL affiliate of the Toledo Walleye, announced that defenseman Jonathan Carlsson has been assigned to Toledo.
Chicago Blackhawks General Manager of Minor League Affiliations Mark Bernard made the announcement earlier today.
Carlsson made his AHL debut with Rockford last month, playing in six games and recording six penalty minutes. He was originally drafted by the Blackhawks in 2008.
He began his career in his native Sweden, playing for Brynas IF Gavle in the Swedish Elite League. Carlsson saw increased action in the 2008-2009 season, appearing in 55 regular season games and recording a career-best 78 penalty minutes.
Carlsson also has experience playing internationally for Sweden, including scoring a goal in the championship game as Sweden took home the silver medal in the 2008 World Junior Championships.
