The Ducks lost the game, 3-2 in a shootout at Jobing.com Arena. The incident occurred at 7:12 of the first period. No penalty was assessed on the play. Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and based on his average annual salary, Wisniewski will forfeit $28,497.40. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund. Wisniewski will miss games on Tuesday against Pittsburgh on Thursday against Nashville. He will be eligible to return on Saturday against Phoenix. http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=504555

I say the initial contact was just below the neck. Hes probably the Ducks best dman. What depth the Hawks have.

I read your post and then watched the hit three times. If that's not an elbow...!!! A forearm like that is an elbow. Let's get serious for just a moment. Yet another star floored with a hit to the head. "Great hit!" ??? Bettman's attempt to promote hockey as the slapshot farce so many americans can identify this great game with, is gaining ground, and has indeed taken a turn for the worst with continuous hits to the head and cheapshots. Some may view this as a reason to rienstate the enforcer, others may say my post suggests I'm guilty of wanting hitting out of the game. Like many of us, I played years of hockey and at 51 I've just retired from coaching in Italy. I love the rugged game. This shit ain't hockey. Players are forced to fight if they make a clean hit and many players are getting away with "murder" by being assigned 2 minutes, while their victim is lost to their team. If you're a face in the league (Ovechkin) you can do whatever you like, Colin will never suspend you. Clarence Campbell suspended the best player in the league during playoffs (Rocket Richard), then the next evening had the balls to attend the game at the forum in Montreal. Bettman's a coward and is responsible for this promotional "tendancy" the league seems to want. Look at that vicious hit in the OHL, recently, where a 16 year old kid was left with a fractured skull (and alot more). Cheap but "part of the game": Whose game?The kids are understanding what it takes to have a shot in the NHL (Downey). The game and players are bigger, faster and better and the league must recognize this, not just by eliminating the red line (which I like). Take a look at the list of injuries in the league? How many are head injuries? It seems there are many more than in past years. With the red line out it's open season. We are very close to witnessing a tragedy on ice that will set this league on its heels and cause unrelenting damages. It's just not enough that the player skates with his head up in a league where players have little or no respect for each other. I'll never attack the person on these boards. However, I confess that this is a growing concern to me and I'm puzzled that it's not an important issue to the on the league, as it is in other professional contact sports. I had no intention to direct my view toawrds you...I don't post in that way. Hockey still remains the only professional contact sport that its superstars from head hits.

Just had an opening to poke a little fun at myself and I TOOK IT dammit. I dont like blatant head shots but the way I saw it was forearm to the collarbone area and Wiz got Doaners head on the continuation with the forearm. The way I saw it, Doan probably got concussed hitting the ice with the back of the head. If he did catch the chin first, thats another story though. Nothing conclusive as far as Im concerned. Now as far as head hits, I guess Im more used to seeing football and grew up with it back in the bad old days where head slaps and clothslines were the order of the day. Forearms were basically nothing.
