Wasn't aware he was injured. Glad its not serious.

INJURY NOT AS SERIOUS AS EARLIER REPORTED

Belleville Bulls defenceman Shawn Lalonde could return to the lineup sooner rather than later.

No, the team's most talented player will not see action this weekend when Bulls (4-7-1-0) embark on a tough, three-game road trip through London (8-and-3), Plymouth (7-and-5) and Windsor (9-3-0-1). However, contrary to earlier reports that had him out for four to six weeks with a suspected separated shoulder, Burnett said Tuesday Lalonde could be ready to play next week.

Maybe.

"Shawn is definitely out this weekend but there's a chance we may see him next week," said Burnett.

Lalonde said x-rays indicated the injury was not a shoulder separation after all.

"It's a joint sprain," said Lalonde. "Right now I have full motion. It's just sore and I have to wait for the ligaments to repair. I'm just waiting for the ligament pain to go away."

Lalonde, who is fourth in scoring among OHL defencemen (5-8-13), said he sustained the injury late in last Wednesday's 5-3 home-ice loss to the Oshawa Generals.

"It was in the last minute and I fell on a rush," said the Chicago Blackhawks NHL draft pick. "An Oshawa player sat on my arm and it was fully extended."

Lalonde isn't skating but is working out and receiving treatments for the injury from Bulls physical therapist Ryan Bennett.

"Right now, it all depends on the pain I have," said Lalonde. "If I can return in a week or 10 days, that would be awesome and would also mean Ryan is doing a tremendous job."

As well, it would mean Burnett won't be combing the waiver wire looking for a fill-in while Lalonde heals his damaged wing.
